Discord has apparently realized that more and more companies and game studios have moved content, like announcements, guides, and product support, that would ordinarily have been hosted on blogs and forums to official Discord servers, effectively locking that content behind a Discord account and making it extraordinarily difficult to find in some cases. In response, the chat service provider has officially announced the roll-out of Server Web Pages in an effort to make discoverable Discord servers—those publicly available servers often used for support and announcements—more easily discoverable using search engines, like Google and DuckDuckGo.

Prior to Discord's launch, message boards were common, ranging from community-driven forums to official ones run by game studios. These message boards excelled at hosting long-form, structured conversations about helping people, theory crafting, and more. While they still exist today, many have moved into Discord servers. This has led to valuable information being locked in Discord conversations, inaccessible to the wider internet. We want to fix this.

Server Web Pages have been around for a while on Discord, and they have traditionally served as a way to find out why a Discord server exists before joining it. The new Server Web Pages update just expands on that functionality by adding a brief automated summary of ongoing conversations to the Server Web Page, along with other content that admins can push to the Server Web Page. These new changes will start rolling out on November 16, 2026, and admins of discoverable servers can opt out by labelling the server as a community server instead.

We expect this to help different types of communities in various ways: For fandoms, you can make specific channels an easy-to-find resource that answers the top questions new players ask.

For content creators, you can more easily promote events and new content drops.

For indie game developers, you can use public channels, including forums, to share updates and wiki-style information about your games.

Discord will also make actual messages and channels discoverable to search engines via the new Server Pages, and server and channel admins will have the ability to share certain content exclusively. Users will also be able to share or hide their content from public searches.

From mid-December 2026, answers to questions your members sent in public channels can be found in a web search, in their own words. Server admins decide which channels take part, and server members can choose whether their own messages appear. Usernames and avatars will not be shown alongside these messages
